10 years of farmers for climate action – now we need your help for the next generation 

Ten years back, 30 of the farmers got together in the Blue Mountains. They’d been asking for strong climate policies for ages and weren’t getting anywhere. So, the farmers decided to team up and really push for policies that would help everyday farmers deal with climate change and extreme weather. 

That year, more than 100 farmers signed a letter calling on our federal government to set stronger targets to reduce pollution. 

Fast forward to today, and Farmers for Climate Action has 8,400 members! We straddle the climate and the ag sector, finding solutions that work for both camps. We run gutsy grassroots and community events – forums where farmers can have constructive chats. 

We document what climate action looks like on the ground, and share those videos widely. You might have seen us online or in your local paper.

We write papers and consult farmers all over Australia. Perhaps most importantly, we help farmers meet with their politicians and have their voice heard. 

There is so much left to do. Decarbonising the ag sector and making EV farm vehicles widely available. Changing the energy infrastructure and policy so farmers can make the most out of solar panels on their sheds. Working with farmers to adopt best practice to drive productivity and reduce emissions. Finding solutions for methane that work for industry and consumers.

When we reach 10,000 farmer members, the Farmers for Climate Action membership base will be more than 10% of Aussie farmers are an FCA member.

And that means more than 1000 farmers will attend a FCA webinar each year and more than 100,000 regional Aussies will see our work on socials, TVs, and in the paper.
