POSTPONED: Join Farmers for Climate Action’s Tas network in Weegena (near Deloraine) for a field day with Sam Trethewey, founder of Tas Ag Co.

Learn about the innovative work the Tretheweys are doing to rebuild their soil health through carbon farming and data-backed management practices, as well as restoring native ecosystems.

It is also a great opportunity to catch up with like-minded farmers over a delicious barbecue lunch (with steaks produced by Sam!)

Sam has almost 20 years of experience in agriculture and agribusiness. Now, Sam and his wife, Stephanie, manage the Tasmanian Agricultural Company and aim to produce regenerative Wagyu cross beef by adopting practices like time-controlled rotational grazing, multi-species plant crops and no pesticide use. In 2019, Tas Ag Co became the first farm in Tasmania to register a soil carbon project through Australia’s $2.5 billion Emissions Reduction Fund, using the only soil carbon measuring protocol eligible under the United Nations Paris Agreement. By farming in this way, the Tas Ag Co wants to present farming as a solution to climate change, taking carbon from the atmosphere and putting it back in the soil.
