Farmers for Climate Action partnered with Renewable Energy Alliance (RE-Alliance) and the Australian National University (ANU) to understand the barriers to electrification.

We want to better understand the opportunities from broader regional electrification – but we want to identify and find solutions to barriers preventing rural small businesses and farming businesses from adopting electrification and renewable energy.

This workshop allowed participants to hear from sustainability, planning and renewable energy expert Andrew Chamberlin as he outlined some of the exciting technological advancements and what the future of electrification looks like.

When done right, the renewable energy shift offers real opportunities to secure local energy supply, diversify farm income, and reduce costs for farmers. But farmers need to be able to have trust in the system, trust in developers and have full confidence that they’ll be treated fairly through the process.

The Developer Rating Scheme (DRS) is designed to give community stakeholders an objective assessment of an organisation they are engaging with for renewable energy projects, based on trusted and independently verified information.
