A new report by AgriFutures has found that Australia’s main barrier to food security is not a lack of investment or expertise. Instead, fragmented governance, disconnected data and weak coordination limit progress.

Food security needs a systems based approach in Australia which brings together a coordinated approach from different industries. In this webinar, we hear from experts on how to make this happen in a world challenged by climate resilience, water security, energy transition, supply chain disruptions, trade pressures and workforce shortages.

Farmers for Climate Action partnered with Renewable Energy Alliance (RE-Alliance) and the Australian National University (ANU) to understand the barriers to electrification.

We want to better understand the opportunities from broader regional electrification – but we want to identify and find solutions to barriers preventing rural small businesses and farming businesses from adopting electrification and renewable energy.

This workshop allowed participants to hear from sustainability, planning and renewable energy expert Andrew Chamberlin as he outlined some of the exciting technological advancements and what the future of electrification looks like.

This project was funded by Energy Consumers Australia as part of its Grants Program to support consumer advocacy and research projects that benefit of household and small business consumers. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect the views of Energy Consumers Australia.

Join us as we host Tony Mahar, the Australian Energy Infrastructure Commissioner, and Paul Nissen from Equifax as we explore the role of the Developer Rating Scheme as landholders and communities continue to investigate the opportunity to participate in renewable energy projects.

We’re hearing from farmers across the country that with all the noise about energy policy – integrity, community confidence, and social licence has never been more important for regional energy security.

When done right, the renewable energy shift offers real opportunities to secure local energy supply, diversify farm income, and reduce costs for farmers. But farmers need to be able to have trust in the system, trust in developers and have full confidence that they’ll be treated fairly through the process.

The Developer Rating Scheme (DRS) is designed to give community stakeholders an objective assessment of an organisation they are engaging with for renewable energy projects, based on trusted and independently verified information.
