Farmers have travelled from across Queensland to deliver a clear message to politicians ahead of the election campaign: Farmers want a clean future.

Farmers for Climate Action will host a Farmers Parliamentary Reception and Sustainable Agriculture Luncheon at Queensland Parliament House tomorrow (Tuesday 10/9). All 200 tickets were sold within a fortnight.

Leaders from across agriculture, politics and energy are attending the luncheon, which will feature speeches from both the Minister and Shadow Agriculture Minister. Farmers will then meet with relevant Ministers, Shadow Ministers and backbenchers to drive the message home. Farmers for Climate Action has some 8300 farmer members, making it one of the largest farm advocacy groups in the nation.

Farmers for Climate Action CEO Natalie Collard said clean air, clean water and a stable climate were crucial for all farmers.

“We’re advocating for the quiet majority of farmers who want a clean future so their kids can keep farming forever,” Ms Collard said.

“Our polling shows farmers are proud of Australia’s clean, green and sustainable agricultural heritage.

“Farmers across Australia are leading the way on sustainable farming, looking after Australia’s biodiversity and reducing carbon pollution at the same time.

“Farmers for Climate Action is proudly non-partisan, and we aim to be in the room with the decision makers having calm and measured conversations.

“This event will bring together numerous leaders from across the political spectrum so they can hear our message loud and clear: Farmers want a clean future.”
