We've been in Canberra this week meeting with MPs across the political spectrum to talk about the Government's key climate policy, the Safeguard Mechanism, which is soon to be introduced into Parliament.

We're concerned that without better transparency, as well as ensuring only the highest offsets can be used, that the policy could allow big polluters to just keep polluting, while leaving agriculture in the lurch.

It was great to see so many MPs are on the same page and we had constructive discussions with both Agriculture Minister Murray Watt and Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen's offices, who are also alert to our concerns and looking for the best way forward.

The Federal Government's key climate policy, the Safeguard Mechanism reform, is soon to be introduced to Parliament.

We're concerned that, without better transparency and integrity, the unlimited offsets component of the reform could allow big polluters to just keep polluting and leave farmers to clean up the mess.
