As a farmer, we need your voice now more than ever to ensure that ag is part of Australia’s climate target.

We are running an open letter to thank NSW Ag Minister Adam Marshall for speaking out strongly in support of ag’s inclusion in a net zero emissions target.

We are also calling on the Federal Leader of the Nationals, Minister Michael McCormack, to follow Marshall’s lead and ensure farmers are part of the conversation around Australia’s net zero targets.

If you’re a farmer from NSW, sign the letter below to thank Adam Marshall and send a message to Michael McCormack that we want solutions, not more politics, around climate.

Dear NSW Agriculture Minister, Adam Marshall
Cc Federal Nationals leader, Minister Michael McCormack

We the undersigned are farmers from across New South Wales. We would like to thank you for your leadership in standing up for agriculture’s inclusion in Australia’s net zero targets.

We call on the Federal Leader of the Nationals Minister Michael McCormack to follow your lead and ensure farmers are part of the conversation around Australia’s climate targets.

As you said, we farmers don’t want to be ‘spending 29 years in no-man’s land’ because of political point scoring.

The recent threat of trade tariffs on Australia for our stance on climate demonstrates how vulnerable we are if the government doesn’t support the agriculture sector to reach net zero well before 2050.

Farmers manage approximately 51% of Australia’s land. We are part of the solution to climate change. It will bring new jobs, industries and investment to our regions. Do not make us part of a political culture war.

Let’s get on with it.

Signed
