Next week, the Government is expected to introduce its Safeguard Mechanism to Parliament and we need to be there. We are worried that if the bill passes, it will allow big polluters to keep on polluting and use unlimited offsets instead of reducing their emissions.
This outcome means farming families might face unlimited competition from corporates like Woodside who are buying up land to offset their emissions. This is a bad outcome for farmers and a bad outcome for the climate.
