We are running an open letter to thank NSW Ag Minister Adam Marshall for speaking out strongly in support of Ag’s inclusion in a net zero emissions target.
We are also calling on the Federal Leader of the Nationals, Minister Michael McCormack, to follow Marshallโs lead and ensure farmers are part of the conversation around Australiaโs climate targets.
If you’re a farmer from NSW, sign the letter below to thank Adam Marshall and send a message to Michael McCormack that we want solutions, not more politics, around climate.
An Open Letter to NSW Agriculture Minister, Adam Marshall.
Cc Federal Nationals leader, Minister Michael McCormack
We the undersigned are farmers across New South Wales and would like to note your leadership standing up for the importance of agriculture to be part of Australiaโs climate targets.ย
We call on the Federal Leader of the Nationals, Minister Michael McCormack to follow your lead and ensure farmers are part of the conversation around Australiaโs climate targets.ย
As you said, we farmers donโt want to be โspending 29 years in no-manโs landโ, because of political point scoring.
The recent threat of trade tariffs on Australia for our stance on climate demonstrates how vulnerable we are if the government doesnโt support the agriculture sector to reach net zero well before 2050.
Farmers manage approximately 51% of Australiaโs land. As such, we are part of the solution to climate change. It will bring new jobs, industries and investment to our regions and we donโt want to be part of a political culture war.
Letโs get on with it.
