We are seeking someone passionate about climate change to join our small team and support our office co-ordination.

 

The role

The Office Co-ordinator will manage the day-to-day admin functions of the office and provide direct support to the Chief Executive Officer, the Deputy Director and the Campaigns Director. 

The role requires someone who is flexible and adaptive to the changing pace of the organisation, is a highly motivated professional, and can hold professional confidentiality where required.

The candidate would ideally be based primarily within our small Canberra office with our CEO and Donor Engagement Co-ordinator, although some work from home can be negotiated. The role is 0.6 FTE, or potentially 0.8 FTE for the right person.

Farmers for Climate Action is a movement of farmers, agricultural leaders and rural Australians working to ensure farmers are a key part of the solution to climate change. The only farmer-led organisation that specialises in climate action, we work across the agricultural and climate sectors to manage risks and find opportunities to adapt to, and mitigate, climate change. We represent more than 5000 farmers across Australia. Our supporter base includes over 28,000 Australians committed to climate action for agriculture. Our farmers and our Board can be found across the country: from the tropical north of Queensland to the cooler climes of Tasmania, and from the wine growing regions of Western Australia right across to the sheep and cropping farms of New South Wales. Our six staff members are spread across the east coast of Australia. 

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to our CEO, Deputy Director and Campaigns Manager
  • Schedule and organise meetings, including the management of agenda and minute-taking
  • Manage data entry and maintain internal CRM system (Nationbuilder)
  • Effective and efficient management of records, include organisation of shared drive
  • Manage team calendar and project management software
  • Manage email and newsletter send-outs, and regular maintenance and updating of IT platforms including WordPress website
  • Maintaining IT security and asset register 
  • Coordinate requests for information from internal and external stakeholders and provides a professional first point of contact for enquiries via our 1800 number and general email address 
  • Ensuring FCA is compliant with various electoral and fundraising registers
  • Ensuring staff policies and procedures are complied with and remain updated
  • Responsibility for maintaining appropriate level of organisation’s insurances 
  • Supporting the development and distribution of merchandise
  • Work on specific projects, as required

Selection criteria

Essential

  1. Relevant experience in providing a broad range of administration and office support
  2. Ability to identify and resolve problems and make appropriate recommendations
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and competency in, or willingness to learn, our commonly used software and online platforms including Google Documents, Nationbuilder, WordPress, Asana etc
  4. Relevant qualifications in business management
  5. Passion for action on climate change

Desirable

  1. Knowledge of, and experience with, agricultural communities
  2. Relevant qualifications in business management
  3. Experience working in the not-for-profit sector
  4. Experience working within a remote team environment
