Farmers for Climate Action, which represents more than 8000 farmers and 45,000 supporters across Australia, has welcomed the Queensland LNP Opposition’s promise to support solar panels on the rooftops of rental properties.

CEO Natalie Collard said Farmers for Climate Action supported policies which would help Australia achieve deep pollution reduction this decisive decade, and household solar was an important part of this picture.

“Household solar reduces the cost of living by driving down energy bills, and gives households more energy independence,” Ms Collard said.

“Sunshine is one of Queensland’s natural strengths and it makes sense to harness it.

“Rental properties have been a missing piece of the household renewables puzzle, and we welcome moves to get solar onto the rooftops of rental property.

“Once households have solar, they often then access energy efficient hot water heat pumps and other on-farm innovations to further reduce their energy bills. These options help the household budget and it helps reduce emissions in the decisive decade.”
