Statement on creation of net zero Authority
FCA welcomes the move to create an Authority which will work with regional Australia on the energy shift.
We’re glad the Authority has been placed in the Prime Minister’s department. Making sure farmers and regional Australians benefit from the energy shift deserves the full attention of all governments.
FCA considers the Authority needs to focus firmly on delivering the benefits of the energy shift to regional Australia and the farmers who grow our food and fibre. While clean energy presents a once in a generation opportunity to cement sustainable, permanent and high paying careers in regional Australia, the engagement of the agricultural and regional communities is a key aspect that must be improved so benefits are shared fairly.
Regional Australia supplies our cities with their water, food and energy and must be considered first in every discussion about pollution reduction.
