The rolling climate disasters of the past few years – from drought and fires straight to storms and floods – have shown us that more than ever we need urgent climate action now. Strong climate policy will drive investment and jobs to regional Australia, as well as provide opportunities for farmers to diversify our income.
Right now, the new federal government wants to develop a national policy on climate change and agriculture, to ensure Australian farmers are prepared to deal with the changing climate and able to seize the economic opportunities that come from moving to a low carbon economy.
