Farmers for Climate Action, representing more than 8000 farmers across Australia, applauds the appointment of Fiona Simson to the Climate Change Authority.
The Climate Change Authority is a statutory body which gives advice to the Federal Government on climate change policy.
Farmers for Climate Action CEO Natalie Collard said Ms Simson was a fantastic appointment.
“Fiona Simson has been a true leader in the farm space,” Ms Collard said.
“She was the first female President of the National Farmers Federation and oversaw the strengthening of NFF climate policy, including adoption of the 2050 net zero target.
“It is so important for climate policy to hear and value rural and agricultural voices.
“Farmers for Climate Action applauds this appointment.”
